Yoko's Lasagna

Print Friendly and PDF
Here's my niece Yoko Shimomura's recipe for her delicious lasagna....definitely a family favorite. Pictured here are Yoko and the newest family member, baby "Miko-donut", of Seattle. What a cutie!

8 ounces lasagna noodles
1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
1 medium diced onion
1 tsp salt
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1, (32 oz) jar spaghetti sauce
1, (16 oz) package large curd cottage cheese
1 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded

Cook noodles according to package directions. Sauté meat with onions, salt, garlic salt, oregano, and basil. Drain excess fat, add spaghetti sauce to meat mixture and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer for 15 - 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line bottom of a 9x13 glass baking pan with three lasagna noodles. Spread 1/3 of sauce mixture over noodles. Layer 1/3 of cottage cheese over the sauce. Sprinkle 1/3 of mozzarella over the cottage cheese. Repeat this layering process until all the ingredients are used up. Bake at 350 degrees over for one hour. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Serves: 12
